My partner dresses me – round 2

by Matilda

Are you brave enough to let your partner choose your outfits for a week? We were. Belinda and I participated in the #mypartnerdressesme challenge. When we did our monthly social media planning, it was decided that for a week in November we would let our husbands choose what we wear. Instagram is the forum we chose to showcase our stylists’ creations.

We extended an open invitation on Instagram and eight lovely ladies, joined in our challenge. Some of the ladies were known to us, and some we have never encountered on Instagram before. I am quite reserved and it took me a while to warm up to everybody. Again my belief that most people in the world are good was reaffirmed. All the accounts were just having fun along with us. No complications. Just support all the way.

It is not always easy for me to communicate on social media. English is my second language and I usually rewrite my comments more than once. With the blog, it is easier, because Belinda checks my grammar. When I have to respond in the moment, I am more hesitant to elaborate. The more I write, the greater the chance of making a mistake. Just the act of communicating with these ladies in a group, gave me a huge confidence boost. I am so grateful for their acceptance. Even though they wouldn’t know how much this meant to me.

My husband is my biggest supporter. He didn’t even flinch when I asked if he would choose my outfits for a week. Every afternoon after work, he would stand in front of my closet and go through my clothes until he found what he was looking for. On Wednesday, he had to choose two outfits, because he was away the Thursday to the Saturday for work. We did mostly forget about accessories. I don’t accessorise much, so that wasn’t too big a problem. I felt he did very well, except for one outfit. See if you can guess which one.

Belinda is a great motivator. Because she is so dedicated and has such a strong work ethic, she inspires me to do better. To be determined. To always try again. Without Belinda this challenge wouldn’t have been so much fun.

What did I learn from this experience? I trust my husband to have my best interest at heart. I like our Instagram community. I absolutely enjoy being in a partnership with Belinda.
